Here’s a post from Averil about things to do these school holidays. Now many of these are not cheap or free, but for more cost effective things to do, check out my post Top 10 Free and Low Cost Things To Do In Sydney School Holidays.
Easter is on its way and term one is nearly done and dusted. I don’t know about you, but a two week break from the mad morning rush, making lunchboxes, and the helping with homework and reading will be very welcome here!
I’m looking forward to some quiet time at home, but after a few days of that there’s sure to be the dreaded cry of …
“I’m bored!!”
Not to worry, I’ve put together a list of things to do around Sydney these school holidays that will get you out of the house and save your sanity!

The Easter show runs from 26th March to 8th April. It’s actually been a couple of years since we have braved the Easter Show, but it’s on our list these holidays. My 3 kids have been poring over the guide that was in the Sunday newspaper on the weekend, and are excitedly planning what we’re going to see and do, not to mention which show bag they will choose!

The Museum of Sydney is currently showing an impressive display of Lego skyscrapers, complete with a Lego play space with 200,000 Lego bricks for your kids to get creative with. My two Lego mad boys will go nuts for this!
Tickets for this are sold as timed sessions, but include access to the entire museum. There’s so much to see here, for both kids and parents, it really is a fabulous day out.

Kids in the park run their school holiday program from 3-19 April. There’s oodles of activities to choose from for creative, sporty or adventurous kids. Many of the activities are free or under $20 (yay!). And for those of us that still have to work during school holidays they also offer vacation care and day camps, which I’ve heard are fantastic.
There’s some beautiful picnic areas and playgrounds to visit while you’re here.

This Easter Sydney aquarium has a new Octonauts Experience opening, which littlies and younger school kids will love. For older kids and adults there is plenty to do, with fish, coral, dugongs, penguins and rays to see. And watching the majestic sharks swim from underneath never gets old! Located in Darling Harbour, visit this wonderful gigantic playground while you’re here.

During the school holidays the National Parks and Wildlife service run a program for kids called Wilderquest. Here, your kids can do fun activities and learn all about our coastline and native animals. My kids have done these a couple of times, they learnt so much, plus it’s a wonderful way to get them out in the fresh air and sunshine.

Winter sports will be starting very soon, and if you have a soccer star in the making that wants to learn some new skills Sydney FC is running holiday clinics at 6 locations across Sydney for 5-12 year old boys and girls. Each clinic runs for 3 days, from 9am-3pm, very handy for the working parents out there.

For something a little different that’s both fun and educational Sydney Observatory runs a fantastic school holiday program. You can book in for one of the day time activities, or you can go for one of the night time sessions. They all look fabulous for kids and grownups alike!

For a family friendly bridge climb, you can bring the kids and climb the South Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. On the way up there are 3 levels of exhibitions detailing the history of our beautiful landmark. While you’re there, why not walk across to the north side?

10. Featherdale Wildlife Park
There’s lots of Easter school holiday fun happening at Featherdale Wildlife Park! If you would like to see a Bilby (yes please!) up close then now is the time to visit. It’s also your last chance to see the crocodile feeding before he begins his winter fast. There’s lots of animals to see, and plenty of keeper talks throughout the day, and you can even feed and pat a kangaroo.

I hope that gives you some school holiday boredom busting inspiration!
