10 Fundraising Ideas: Jeans for genes

The best idea for a fundraiser I’ve ever had was the sponsored wedding one.
The idea is that Paul and I could (finally) pledge our troth and ask people to donate money to a charity instead of giving us presents.
Clever, huh?
The sponsored wedding won’t be done in time for this year’s Jeans for Genes Day on Friday 5th August, but it really WILL get done one day.

Jeans for Genes is one of Australia’s most loved and supported fundraisers. The Children’s Medical Research Institute is the charity it supports.
CMRI Scientists are doing their damndest to find treatments and cures for childhood diseases.
1:20 of our kids have some sort of medical condition.
Make that 2:4 of mine.
We all know at least one kid, probably half a dozen, who can benefit from the work the CMRI is doing.

If you’re thinking of raising money for Jeans for Genes, here are some ideas:
10 fantastic fundraising ideas
- Renting out our beach house to friends who donated to CanToo’s fundraising for Cure Cancer Australia- thanks guys
- Baking cakes and selling them to the neighbours
- Sponsored silences, sadly my family not great at this
- Selling unwanted clothes/toys on Ebay and donate the money to charity
- Tithe, give 10% of your income for a week, a month, a year, forever….
- Christmas cake and pudding stalls held in November
- Garage sales – ye olde favourite
- Hold a denim at work day, even if you work at home!
- Suggest a wear denim to school day
- Go without your takeaway coffee for a week and donate the $20 you’ll save (it was $30 in my case when I included the cake)
Jeans for Genes has a huge amount of support for fundraising on their website here.

What’s your most creative fundraising idea and have you used it to raise funds already?
If so, for which charity and why do you support them?
Cheers
