2013 Beach Walk for Brain Cancer – Sunday 24th November 2013
I know I am not alone in having lost a loved one to cancer, nor in knowing children who have lost a parent.
It’s helpful to assist our friends and family as they endure their illness. It’s also helpful – and so healing for us survivors – to help find better treatments and even cures for the cancers that kill.
I’m proud to raise money for Cure Cancer Australia when I do my ocean swimming with Can Too.
And here’s another great opportunity to raise money whilst keeping fit, with the added benefit of enjoying some of the most beautiful beaches in Sydney.
And at only 5km long, the Beach Walk For Brain Cancer is very family friendly too.
In its third year, this walk starts at gorgeous Shelly Beach in Manly.
You walk all along the beaches of Manly, South Steyne, North Steyne, Queenscliff and on to South Curl Curl.
Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in children under 14 years and in males under 44 years.
All funds raised go to the Tony Lucas Research Grant, a medical research grant within the Cure For Life Foundation, set up by Tony’s 20 year old daughter Bec, after losing her father to brain cancer.
100% of funds raised go to cancer research.
Following the walk, there is big beach BBQ with food, drinks, snow cones and live music at South Curl Curl (one of our fave beaches and rock pools – take a cossie).
Buses will be available to transport participants back to North Steyne after the event.
Registration: Register online or on the day. Registration cost is $20 per adult, $10 per child (13 and under). You can also sign up to fundraise.

Here’s a lovely short video showing the walk from last year.
Lovely to hear of a walk that even the younger family members can enjoy. And what a great cause.
I’m hoping to be there with some of the children.
Hope you catch you there.
All the best
