Beyond The Baby Blues – Introduction
This is my gorgeous second son, known on this blog as Able. His birth was the most amazing, excruciating, miraculous experience – for both of us!
He didn’t cry a lot as a baby, but I cried…..
For the next few Wednesdays, I’m going to run through Beyond The Baby Blues chapter by chapter.
I’ll explain what is in each chapter and why, with a flavour of the content and some of our contributor’s wonderful quotes.
My aim is to let people have a good look at the book. I’m always keen on a ‘try before you buy’ approach to life… now there’s something you just can’t do with babies!
So, first up, here is the intro. This took me at least two years to write. Well, it took two years of thinking about and then the words just poured out one day, scribbled down on a notebook in a cafe in about 20 minutes.
I expected my co-authors and our book editor and publisher to adapt and alter these words a lot, but to my surprise and slight horror, they didn’t make changes. Gulp!

So, don’t panic, you won’t see whole chapters or even such long sections again. But it felt important to get that Introduction out into the public domain, so readers can see where we are coming from.
We authors would love to know what you might have written as an introduction to the whole thorny subject of perinatal anxiety and depression. Please do leave a comment or send an email. Start Talking- it can help so many others!
