Butcherman Review: Sydney's Online Butcher

 
  

It’s the 1st of December and for our family the start of the Christmas season.  We’re kicking off with a review of Sydney’s favourite online butcher.

Butcherman delivers throughout Sydney and into the Blue Mountains.  I hadn’t used Butcherman previously but am a firm believer in the practicality of online food shopping so was keen to give it a whirl.

First of all I set up an account; the initial request is for a postcode, to check that deliveries are made in my area. They are, bingo – and the rest was dead easy.

The Home Delivery + Times pages shows all suburbs served and the time of the week the delivery is made.

I chose a half ham, ideal for Christmas.

And a rolled turkey roast, I’m not keen on roasting a whole bird

The delivery was made next day and turned up right in the middle of the expected time window.  So all the meats I’d ordered went straight into the fridge or freezer, super cool.

It’s simple to use, and quick too.

There are weekly specials on the website.

The Christmas boxes are offering terrific value at the moment.

I liked the list of kids meats.

If you can’t be at home (or office) to take the delivery you can leave out an esky or pre-purchase a cooler bag.

Having a tab for Christmas meats is handy, gets you straight there.

Glad to see an organic meat section.

Great to have the heavy Christmas meats delivered and not be staggering home with them.

Anything To Improve?

I like to know where my food is coming from so would love to read a bit more about where the animals are farmed.

So What’s Cookin’?

I cooked the turkey roll roast yesterday, I just dotted it with butter and put it in a dish with a little water.

Then put some foil over for the first 80 minutes of cooking, taking it off for the last 30 mins to let the top crisp and brown.

Voila!

Very succulent

We ate this with roast spuds and a big green salad, my teenagers wolfed down absolutely loads.
