Easy Caramel Popcorn Recipe – And Cuisinart Hot Air Popcorn Machine Review

This was supposed to be a post about how healthy it is to make air popped popcorn for the kids. This makes nan excellent after school snack, so quick and easy and no butter required.

But no!

My daughter, Minnie The Minx, took one look at the new popcorn maker (thank you Kitchenware Direct) and rushed off to find a children’s magazine with a toothachingly sweet recipe for caramel popcorn.

We made it and it’s just too good not to share.  This is a fantastic popcorn recipe for a children’s birthday party, or any event where you’ll be sharing.

We made it using the Cuisinart Hot Air Popcorn Machine we were sent. Kitchenware Direct have kindly offered one as a giveaway to regular readers of this blog, details at the bottom of the post.

But first, this decadent recipe.

Easy Caramel Popcorn Recipe

1/2 cup of popcorn kernals

80g butter

2tbsp honey

170g caster sugar

2 tbsp milk

Sprinkles, chocolate bits, mini marshmallows

Gather a group of children to help you eat this sweet, sticky treat.

Pop the popcorn.

Place honey, butter, sugar and milk in a pan and melt together over a medium heat.

Bring to the boil and boil gently for about five minutes, stirring.

Pour the caramel over the popcorn and mix together.

Sprinkle with 100s and 1000s or mini marshmallows or chocolate chips.

Let set for a few minutes. You can roll into balls in wet hands.

Scoff the lot… no… share with lots of children.

Start marathon training.

Cuisinart Hot Air Popcorn Maker Review

We have found this machine super easy to use and much better than the one we had before which had given up the ghost.

This machine blows hot air which pops the corn fast and furiously. It pops a large bowlful at a time and just takes a few minutes. The machine is very light, handy for popping in and out of my top appliance cupboard.

I seriously love a simple plain popped popcorn and usually give that to the kids – we take our own to the movies sometimes.

There are many recipes in the instruction leaflet though, we will try out a simple cinnamon sugar popcorn recipe, and they have some interesting Asian-inspired flavourings.

This machine costs $69.95, a good investment I think.

Happy popping!

PS The giveaway on this post has now ended. Well done Rachel Kapsalakids, your comment did make me laugh.
