Five Handy Handbags for Mummy Photographers

This Ketti handbag was my first ever purchase, padded and with a firm base. The company is closing up now – so sad!

There are loads of us who need to lug about a DSLR, and who might even shoot on manual, when the mood takes us.

Over the years, I’ve bought and tested out quite a few terrific, spacious handbags that have been designed especially for us.

Here are my top picks of what’s available now.

1. Nadine Travel Tote from Aide De Camp

This Singaporean brand has created a really large and very light, yet super strong, bag. It’s my latest and the one I’m using most at the moment. Cost $269

 2. The Esther By Kelly Moore

I’m in love with the expensive but lovely Esther  which I bought for $269 however I see the price has gone up now to $329.

This bag comes in several colours, but I adore my bright green one. It’s made of leather and much heavier than the Nadine, less spacious too. But some days, only green will do.

3. The Audrey-Lu by 3Annies

This is a new bag from the Australian company 3Annies, based up on the Gold Coast. Check out the specs on the 3Annies website here. Cost $359

 

4. The Alice by Lei Momi

This Aussie brand makes two types of bags. I’ve been drooling over the bright red Alice bag, read the specs here. Cost $159

5. The Aurora by Epiphanie

This is so stylish and sleek… and expensive at $519. It’s imported and sold by the Australian retailer Cambags, check it out here.

Why Do I Love My Mummy Photographer Camera Bags?

1. With padded insides and really firm bases,  I know the cameras and lenses will be safe.

2. The padded inserts or padded box inserts can be moved around to suit the cameras or purses/makeup bags I have on the day.

3. They are still spacious enough for the other stuff I need to carry.

4. I can get away most days with JUST ONE BAG. It’s too hard to wrangle kids, kids’ bags, a handbag and a camera bag – that’s just a recipe for disaster of the left-my-bag-behind variety.

5.  Best of all, these types of camera bags for women are colourful and fun… which traditional camera bags just ain’t.
