Healthy Kids Snacks Review
We do try, here at Smith Towers, to give the kids whole foods in their lunch and morning tea boxes. Nothing in packaging is the general idea.
But that can get a bit hard, and sometimes a packet of this or that is a good idea, a pot of yoghurt, a muesli bar, a wee packet of popcorn.
We were recently send a selection of snacks to try, some were old favourites and some new to us.

Smooze Fruit Ice
My kids have been eating Smoozes for years, as I prefer them to eat pure fruit ice blocks, as opposed to ones full of artificial colours, flavours and sugar. As a coconut fiend, I love them for their flavours: coconut and pineapple, coconit and pink guava and coconut and mango. Yum.
By the way, Smooze Fruit Ice is available unfrozen in the dessert aisle of the supermarket next to the jellies and maple syrup etc. It’s not in the frozen foods section.

Table of Plenty NoNo’s Bars
A muesli bar that is full of wholegrains and totally school and preschool-friendly. Great. We tried NoNo’s bars in Cocoa Crush and Berry Blast flavours. Guess which was the fave? The chocolate of course.
I’ve followed Table of Plenty’s with interest since first reading of founder’s Kate Weiss’s urge to find healthy food after the birth of her special needs child. A story I can fully relate to.

No Added Sugar Milk Chocolate Bars
Made by Well, Naturally, these bars come in milk chocolate and fruit and nut varieties. The kids enjoyed them a lot. I’m a dark chocolate girl myself in my old age, but tried them and was amazed at how tasty and sweet they are. A good alternative for children and adults who love a bit of chocolate but don’t need extra sugar energy.

Eskal Gluten-Free Biscuits, Marshmallows and Pretzels and Free Nut Butter
Many years ago, I tried a gluten and milk free diet for number 1 son, so I know how demanding it can be to find handy snacks. Eskal makes a great variety and they are widely available.
My twins just love the pretzels and I do buy these for them. We hadn’t tried the biscuits before, they were good. I have to say my kids didn’t like the Free Nut Butter, but I did. Luckily we have no nut allergies in the household.

Do you have a favourite packaged snack for the kids?
Oh please don’t say you give them 100% homemade foods!!
Disclaimer: We went sent all of these products to review. Some of them have been in our supermarket shopping trolleys for years, others were new to us.
