Jay Laga’aia: Family Time – at Monkey Baa Next School Holidays

The Spring school holidays make a great excuse to have a big day out with the kids.
Regular readers will know that myself and the twins always love to enjoy a day trip to Monkey Baa at the Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre. There’s always a fab family-friendly show on in school holidays.
Then we have a run around at one of the best water playgrounds in Sydney at Darling Quarter.
This post is brought to you by Nuffnang and Monkey Baa Theatre Company
We either take a big picnic or we sit down to eat at one of the cafes right alongside the theatre and playground.
There’s a cracker of a show on in these coming September/October school holidays, featuring one of Australia’s best known children’s entertainers, Jay Laga’aia.

Monkey Baa Theatre at Lendlease Darling Quarter Theatre
This award-winning children’s theatre company is dedicated to providing the best theatrical experiences for children and their families.
The shows they produce and program are always of great quality. Did you know that, since 1997, over 1.2 million Australian young people, their families and teachers have seen a Monkey Baa performance or taken part in a workshop?

JAY LAGA’AIA: FAMILY TIME – 27th September – 1st October
The star of ABC’s Play School and Jay’s Jungle, Jay Laga’aia is loved by his young fans and by their families too.
Jay knows well how powerful play is and he has unleashed that power in his show.
Jay says:
“The show is about the power of our imagination and highlights to parents the simplicity of creating something out of nothing. It is something that I learned working on Play School for the last 16 years: the power of play!” – Jay Laga’aia
The audience join Jay on an expedition through jungles and backyards and all the way to outer space. There’s lots of participation from the audiences – mums and dads, that means you as well as the kids.
Jay’s well known for his songs and there are plenty of musical treats in this show.
If you ever feel you need a reminder of how much fun you can have simply playing and simply being with your children, this show can give you some true inspiration.

Relaxed Performance
THURSDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 12.30PM ** TICKETS: $17.
“Relaxed performances modify the so-called ‘theatre rules’ so the environment is as welcoming and inclusive as possible.
For example, the house lights may be left on during the show, patrons are able to exit whenever necessary, patrons can enter the theatre early to familiarise themselves with the theatre environment.”
This makes a show much easier for younger children and those with additional needs. As a mother of a son with ASD, I’m thrilled to see this show on offer and how wonderful that it has a reduced cost too.
