Scenic World, Katoomba In The Blue Mountains – An Introduction

Hello there, here’s a post about a great day out from Sydney, or a must-see location when you’re on a family trip to the Blue Mountains.
Scenic World is the Blue Mountain’s premier tourist attraction, and this post introduces it, with links to the posts with pictures of each of its fab rides and features.
Now then, some of the rides will be fearfully reported as they are quite hair-raising, at least for the mum in the family. My excitable kids were cool with it all, not at all scared but deeply thrilled.

This is the Scenic Skyway, a thrilling ride through the air.
There are separate posts on the Scenic Skyway, the Scenic Cableway, the Scenic Walkway and that old favourite for more than half a century, the Scenic Railway.

The photo above gives me a lurching sensation in my stomach, which I sort of quite like really. The steepest railway in the world certainly sharpened my mind when we did it. And we did it several times in fact!

Here’s a photo taken by the photographer at the Scenic Railway, just before we set off.
Once you read all the Scenic World posts, you’ll have a good idea about what you and the family can do at Scenic World, with all the information you need to enjoy a fun-filled visit.

There’s a lot to learn too about the history of this area of the Blue Mountains, and about the history of the Scenic Railway too. I was fascinated to learn that the whole operation is still owned and run by the one family whose forefather started the whole thing up in 1944.
Scenic World Tips
Go early! Scenic World has lots of tour group visiting and can be very busy. If your kids wake you up early then get up and get going to avoid waiting in queues.
