Sex and Drugs and Driving – On The Daily Debrief

Losing The Hoopla was harsh. There aren’t many general interest publications which are interesting to bright women of my age group – some bits of the Australian Womens Weekly, yes, but few other magazines or websites.
Some media is non gender specific but I do love to read articles written by intelligent women for women… in just the same way that I love a night out with my women friends.
Anyway, the Daily Debrief from the Mamamia Network is new and not only that, I was asked to write something for World Autism Awareness Day. So I did.
Read about teenagers with autism, about sex drugs and driving, and about where our family is now here.
It starts like this:
My not very cute 18 year old son is now in Dubai with his Dad… he managed the flight there by himself. We did get him picked up at the gate and assisted through the arrivals at Dubai.
That proved to be a blessing as he has a bullet belt in his luggage and he and his Dad had to talk to the police. The belt was confiscated. Oops. It’s just not a good time to go travelling to the Middle East with anything that looks like a weapon or ammunition. Our heavy metal muso son has been caught up in world politics and just doesn’t get it. Not to worry, he’s safe and sound and with his Dad.
That could have all gone horribly wrong.
Happy Easter in the rain – how miserable is Sydney??!!!
