Sydney 360° – Amazing Videos – See Sydney And See Yourself In Sydney

Hey! What a laugh, what a hoot, what a giggle!

And so very, very beautiful.

What a showoff Sydney can be.

I’ve been in love with Sydney for over 25 years and have lived here permanently since 1998, but I’ve never seen my fave city quite in this way before.

Today I’ve been cycling at Manly, surfing at Bondi, have climbed the Harbour Bridge, flown over the Eastern Suburbs, kayaked on the Harbour, walked around Taronga Zoo and swooped over the beautiful Hunter Valley.

Without lifting my bottom from my office chair!

Have you seen this fantastic and fun way to see the best sights in Sydney yet?

It’s the new Sydney 360° section on the Sydney.com website, with amazing 360° videos showing off some of our best sights from above.

You can use your mouse to control the video, and look all around.

Here’s a wee video I filmed showing how I could move the 360° camera around as I watched the Sydney Harbour video.

Then there’s are 360° videos showing some of the experiences we residents and visitors can have in Sydney, and the hilarious thing is, you can insert your own image into the video and then share it with your friends.

Below are a couple of movies I’ve made. My friends in Scotland and beyond will laugh like drains, I can tell you.

Just click on the photos to go to the video. I’m cringing and laughing at the same time.

Who Will Love These 360 Movies

+  Visitors planning a trip to Sydney, they will get a great idea of how our city looks and what they can experience here.

+  We Sydney residents who can ‘try before we buy.’

+  Parents wanting to give their children a sneak preview of a place they are planning to visit or an experience they are hoping to do.

+  NB This will be especially useful for children who get a bit anxious and for children with additional needs especially children (and adults) who have an autism spectrum disorder for whom a visual preview can be invaluable.

+  Anyone who loves a bit of fun!

Three More Movies I’d Like To See in 360°

+  Swimming with grey nurse sharks at Seal Rocks!!

+  Whale watching

+  Flying over Outback NSW

So How Are These 360° Videos Made

I used to be a TV producer before the boisterous bairns ruined my showbiz showoff career. So I was dead keen to find out how the 360° videos are made.

Well, the camera used is a Coptercam 360 Octocopter, with gyro enabled gimbals.  This super-special, extra wide-angle, lightweight, waterproof camera was mounted on a drone (or unmanned aerial vehicle as we say in the trade) for allthe aerial shots.

For the kayaking, cycling, BridgeClimb and surfing video, the camera was mounted on a carbon-fibre pole on a helmet. That must have been hard work for the people wearing them.

Destinations NSW has really broken the technical mould here, using 360° video for tourism in this way is a world first.  Go we early adopter, technical innovator Aussies!
