The Newport Arms Hotel

Here’s a guest post from my friend Carolyn Darragh of Desire Empire. Caro lives on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and today she reviews a local pub which has a long tradition of being a great spot for families. Take it away, Carolyn.
The Newport Arms Hotel is a well established Northern Beaches institution and has been operating in one form or another on this site, since 1880.
Famous for it’s panoramic views across Pittwater, the Beer Garden is the most family friendly aspect of this venue.

Complete with childrens’ play equipment right next door to a coffee bar in the beer garden. This is a great spot to meet friends on a beautiful day, with your kids.

Or perhaps some twilight markets and an early family dinner, is more your thing?
The Arms has recently began weekend breakfast service, with free yoga and pilates, providing a healthy and inexpensive break for mums.
And what about that view? It’s gorgeous!

The food’s not bad either. Although I did find the chocolate milkshake at $8, a bit steep.
Happily I’d asked for it to be split into 2 cups, as my kids are into small portions.
When I queried the price, the waitress willingly admitted I was paying in part, for the view. There’s nothing like calling it as it is, I guess.

The banana bread (with strawberries, banana, candied walnuts and mascarpone) at $11 was pretty flash, I thought.
