Trail Quest: Explore More on Sydney Family Walks

We all love exploring its part of our natural make-up!
Exploring has always been part of my life. With a Dad who created maps for a living and orienteered in his spare time, we were forever getting out and about exploring new areas. Even now as an adult, I love visiting a new area and getting myself lost.

I moved to Sydney four years ago, with my chocolate Labrador Ruby. Ruby also loves exploring and meeting new people. We wanted to find fun ways to explore the city and the surrounding suburbs that make up Sydney. We discovered so many great stories and found that the suburbs had their own personality and history.

There are so many antique buildings, plaques, statues, fountains and art in all the suburbs. Yet we all walk past them every day on our way to work, school or activity, they all have a story.
Some friends came to stay from the UK, and I created them the very first Trail Quest. It was in The Rocks. Instead of just walking around, they stopped and looked around them to find the clues to solve a puzzle. They loved it and wanted me to write more for them.
So during the weekends, when Ruby and I went out walking we wrote more and more Trail Quests. We now have a website and sell Trail Quests both on-line and at various markets around Sydney.
There are now over 30 Trail Quest around Sydney, with more added every month. Each Trail Quest provides directions for you to follow, clues to find along the way and a puzzle to solve. They are suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Trail Quest range from 2-6km and take 1-3hours to complete. Once purchased, the Trail Quest is ready to download and print. You can complete a Trail Quest whenever suits you and whoever you want to go exploring with.

Explore The Rocks to find an artefact. Or China Town to find the missing cases. Interested in film? Why not search Balmain to discover a famous film star. Or visit Paddington to learn about a legendary Australian song. From the underworld in Surry Hills, to bank robberies in the CBD, there is something for everyone.

Manly thanks to Samantha Male for writing this post for Hello Sydney Kids, these maps sound a terrific way to keep kids excited and learning about places more deeply as they walk.
