Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel Review – Family-Friendly Accomodation in Sydney

Oh, how good is a room with a view?
And it must be said that Sydney Harbour was looking particularly gorgeous in the view from the lovely suite I stayed in recently at the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel.
What a view to wake up to, gorgeous to go to bed too as well.

Not bad views in the middle of the day either.
Now then, I must get a grip and wrench my eyes away from the vistas.

Ok then, just one more… this was the view from the window of my room, looking south -west towards North Head. Sigh….
This 32-room hotel on the harbourside at beautiful Watsons Bay is certainly a place I’d recommend for families visiting Sydney (or even for Sydneysiders in search of a gorgeous staycation.)
Here’s why… the family loft rooms are really good. They are well set up with a king bed downstairs and twins singles up on a mezzanine level. So long as your children are old enough to be safe around mezzanines, these rooms are terrific.

I especially loved the windows in the bathroom!
The second major reason why this hotel works well for families is simply location, location, location.
Watsons Bay has lots of cool kid-friendly things to do itself: Watson’s Bay Tea Gardens, the lovely beach, Robertson Park with its fenced playground, Doyles Fish Cafe, walks along the cliff tops, Watsons Bay Baths and more.
Then too, Watsons Bay is close to Bondi and the other Eastern Suburbs beaches. The bustling busy city centre of Sydney with its musems and art galleries and more is easily accessible by ferry, and the journey is most beautiful.
Back to the Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel. In summer time the hotel is all about sitting outside enjoying the views in the Beach Club – this used to be known as the beer garden when I used to come and enjoy beer, views and sunshine here in my 20s. Ah, happy memories…
Anyway, the interior dining room is the Sunset Room and it’s where I ate dinner and breakfast.
It’s has the most lovely decor. Weddings and other functions are held here. How divine.
There are actually several different types of accommodation. I was hosted in a Harbour View Deluxe King Suite, which I can highly recommend if you’re a mum in need of escape from family life. I was and it did the trick nicely.
This room was just gorgeous, with a huge, elegant bathroom, comfy bed, heaps of space and the most gorgeous sliding shutters.
Sun streaming through shutters when I first woke up.
I slid back the shutters to reveal this view – glorious! (I set my camera to expose for the outside, so the room looks dark, but of course at the time, the room was light-filled and the outside looked really bright.)
Very calm colours comfy chairs, all very calming.
Our bathrooms at home look NOTHING like this.
One mum and her pyjamas and a king bed = great night’s sleep.
A buffet breakfast is included in the room cost.
Or you can pay a wee bit extra for a cooked breakfast. Yum.
What an epic post!
I’ll end up with a photo of my very favourite spot in Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, the comfy chair by the log fire. A winter wonder for chilly Sydneysiders.

In the sumer, I must bring the kids here by ferry from Circular Quay – they would love that.
Is Watsons Bay a favourite haunt for you?
Does it bring back youthful memories as it does for me?
Happy travelling.

Many thanks for the lovely room and for kindly shouting dinner for Grace from With Some Grace and myself. We really enjoyed our bloggy and twin-mum natterings in such lovely surrounds.
Dinner was yummy too!
