What's On For Kids In Sydney This Week: 4th – 10th March

Hello, it’s Wednesday again – how ridiculous is that?

Here are my pick are the best of family fun for this weekend.  I still have my beloved old Mum and Aunt staying so our activities will be slow and steady. No racing around for us, which is a pity as there’s so much fun stuff on.

Castle Hill Show

Enjoy a taste of the country in this city annual show. There’s all sorts of entertainment and rides as well as farm animals and all sorts of equestrian competitions.

Thirlmere Festival of Steam

Thirlmere is a pretty rural town south west of Sydney, see map below.

It’s annual Festival of Steam celebrates all things locomotive together with a country village fair on Sunday 6th. Kids will love the train rides and the vintage bus rides too. There’s a Grand Parade on Sunday at 1pm too.

Amongst the fun, you can enjoy a vintage car display and a model railway exhibition. All in all, a good day trip from the city!

Costs: trains rides and entry to trainworks cost $25 for adults and $15 for children. These can also be bought separately.

KidZone at The Domain

KidZone is a free event for families at The Domain on the weekends during Spectrum Now Festival (5-6 and 12-13 March) from 12pm.

Kids can jump on the jumping castle, tackle the obstacle course, play on the hanging percussion station, get their face painted and play giant games. 

The Spectrum Stage will feature a Hula Hoop workshop with La La SistarZ, live science and explosions with Fizzics, dancing to The Vegetable Plot and a mini dance party with Kinderling Kids Radio Danceteria. 

On Saturday, 5 March there will be an additional special event – Rainbow Picnic – especially for Rainbow families, ahead of the Mardi Gras parade.

Live Love Learn workshops happening over the next two weekends. These 90 minute art workshops will have children working with artists to create their own works. Cost: $25   Read more here

Cherrybrook “Movie Under The Stars”

Minions is showing this saturday evening, 5th March at John Purchase Oval, Cherrybrook. Activities start at 4.30pm and the film will start at 7.30pm.

Kiddies Cushion Concert at Campbelltown Arts Centre

On Saturday Mach 6th at 10am there’s a music show for very young children on offer. Tickets cost only $5 and adults go free – bargain!

Comedy For Kids at Sydney Comedy Festival 

Two hours shows for kids will be held from Tuesday 19th April to Sunday 24th April at Sydney Town Hall. The shows are free and the $2.50 booking fee is being donated to Sydney Story Factory. Great fun for school holidays!
