Whole Kids + Terracycle: Recycling Kids Snack Packaging

Do you know the Whole Kids brand? We see it most often in our local IGA store.

2018 is our family’s year of reducing our single use plastic waste and ensuring that we recycle 100% of what is possible to recycle. 

And to bring this commitment online too, Hello Sydney Kids is proud to work on a pro bono basis with Terracyle and Whole Kids to promote their innovative recycling program.

Whole Kids is an award-winning Australian family-owned brand making organic snacks for children. It was started by Monica and James Meldrum in 2005.

Terracycle is a charity which works with companies to create recycling programs. In this case Terracycle manages a program to recycle Whole Kids snack pouches and packaging.

This is a simple program to join, here’s a one minute video that explains what happens.

Whole Kids sent us some snacks to try.

Here’s all the packaging we need to recycle

The kids scoffed the snacks, and we have stored the packaging away. When we have filled a whole box with packaging, we will download an address label and sent it all off to be recycled.

And we can feel great about it!

I already drop Nespresso capsules back to the Nespresso store in Chatswood, and Terracyle manages their recycling. There’s also a program to recycle all brands of toothpaste and toothbrushes – great!

So when planning the kids’ school snacks…. for those days when not everything they eat will be home made…. (a lot of days at our house, I hate to admit), how about giving the Whole Kids range a whirl? Then sign up at Terracycle to recycle all the packaging.

Then sit down and have a cup of tea feeling that, in a small way, you’ve done a good deed for the world.
