The Palmer Coolum Resort: Our Family Review in Photos

Hello T Rex. More dinosaurs to follow we believe.
So we went on a proper family holiday last school hols… it seems so long ago now… Here’s a visual guide to the Palmer Coolum Resort on the Sunshine Coast. Lots of good bits but some criticism too.
We went there for the golf course (no, not for me) really and chose this resort because of years of good word of mouth from friends. If you look on Tripadvisor, you’ll find lots of people with complains as well as praise. As you’ll find here too. Read on!
I’ve already posted a detailed report on the kids clubs and kids activities.
Come on, let’s go for a visual tour.

We stayed in a gargantuan three bedroom house. there are also two bedroom suites and single rooms too.

We had our own wee pool.

Here’s why we came here, the golf course… much appreciated by hubby and the teens who are keen beginner golfers.

There are many pools dotted around this huge resort. This one was beside the Ambassador Club very close to the house.

It did look very tranquil when the twins weren’t in it.

I liked these old-fashioned wicker recliners.

Sadly the central resort pool is in need of a major makeover.

When you’re paying basically an arm and a leg to stay somewhere, lots of mess around the pool is not on.
I’m not saying we didn’t have fun there… just that it looks scruffy.
As does the children’s play area: very dowdy.
Wading pool in desperate need of sprucing up.
There are plenty of eating options.
Children are well catered for.
Especially if they like pizza.
Sorry to have so few photos of the very lovely Spa… but I was too busy having facials, massages etc etc We had booked a Golf and Spa package, so each adult had one token each day which could be used at the Spa or to play golf. It’s a hard life.
There’s a good stretch of beach at the resort, you can get there in a little buggy or by bike. Ms7 was NOT happy when I took her down as the wind was blowing hard.
She was happy when she was cycling around the resort.
The six of us had 9 bags to check in… lots of sports stuff with us and the ever-present guitar.
Big tick. The staff at the resort were really, really terrific, helpful, patient and kind to the kids. Big tick.
Big minus…. I was infuriated to have to pay a 1.5% fee to pay by credit card. Next time I need to take copious piles of cash instead. Really these fees are not on!
Read my detailed report on the kids clubs and kids activities here.
Does that give you a flavour of this resort?
It did work well for our rather tricky family for six.
But it’s a major investment!
Can you recommend another good Aussie resort with lots of sports for us for next time?
Happy Travelling.
