Would you like to share your top tips with other families?

Hello Sydney Kids is looking for contributions, and, yes, there is payment… just a little and only for four posts a month…. but we have to start somewhere.

Can you take 3-4 good photos?

Can you write a sensible sentence, and collect those essential details that families need when planning a visit?

Do you live in Sydney or surrounds, or have you been on a great holiday that others might like to read about?

If you’d like to write a post for Hello Sydney Kids, here are the simple steps:

1.  Make sure you know the site well, read lots of the posts.

Good examples to read are:

2.  Search Hello Sydney Kids to check that your suggestion hasn’t already been covered.

3. Email me to run the location by me and maybe show a photo or two if you have visited already:  hello  at   hellosydneykids.com.au

I will aim to let you know whether I can use your suggestion within a week.

  • family day trips
  • weekends away

4. Once I have asked you to send in your post then you need to download the Hello Sydney Kids Template below which lists all of the details about a location which need to be included  (NB open in new tab).

5. Write your post and email it to me.  I will let you know whether I can use it within a week.  I pay for posts as soon as they are accepted. It can take weeks, even months, before posts are published though.

NB:  The quality of writing and photos on this blog aims to be high…. I’m happy to give you advice on how to improve a post if I feel I cannot use it.

Photos

I use 4 – 6 photos per post.  Ideally these need to be sent as jpgs as an email attachment.  I prefer them not to be too big:  700px, 72dpi and not more than 150kb.  If that sounds like double Dutch, just send what you have!

Payment

At the moment, I pay $50 for a blog post with photos.

(This means it’s not worth making a special trip to check somewhere out, but if you are going anyway, then knock off a story.)

Payment is made on acceptance of the post. I pay by internet banking, you need to send a proper invoice.

Tips for photos

Use a DSLR, it’s really hard to get great shots on your phone

Make sure you have one wide shot which shows the whole place

Don’t show the faces of children other than your own

As my children get older, it’s thrilling to work with other parents of younger children and to share our knowledge of the best Sydney spots for tots.
